About the Khmer Agriculture for the Future Incubator
The Khmer Agriculture for the Future (KAF) Incubator supported start-ups and Agricultural Cooperatives working to strengthen the climate resilience of smallholder farmers. Through the program, we worked with them to strengthen their business models and growth plans, while offering additional technical assistance to promote climate-resilient and agroecological practices among their users and communities. The eight ventures in the incubator also each received $5,000 in seed funding.
By the end of the program, many of the eight ventures were already seeing growth in customers, revenue, and staff size. Some signed new partnerships and one even received investment following the visibility and networks they gained through the incubator.

2023 Khmer Agriculture for the Future Incubator: Endline Evaluation Report
This report evaluates the 2023 KAF Incubator, led by Impact Hub Phnom Penh under the Nurture Programme, which aims to strengthen smallholder farmers’ climate resilience. The incubator supports agricultural ventures and cooperatives in four Cambodian provinces by enhancing their entrepreneurship skills and promoting climate-resilient agriculture (CRA) practices.
Our Approach
Peer Community
We paired each learning masterclass with a peer coaching circle, which allowed the teams to reflect on their challenges, share advice with each other, and ask questions. Not only did the ventures find a unique peer community, but many forged business partnerships with each other through the program!
Tangible Business Strengthening
We focused our curriculum on the most practical, fundamental aspects of running and strengthening a business, providing concrete tools and solutions that the ventures could immediately implement. Our team of mentors then provided on-the-ground consultancy support to troubleshoot the ventures’ challenges: setting up better financial management systems, creating marketing plans and more.
Increased Visibility
Despite the many actors working in climate-resilient agriculture in Cambodia, private sector/start-up solutions are less known. The program brought them legitimacy and visibility. We introduced the ventures to 40+ leaders in agriculture and produced high-quality videos about each venture that received tens of thousands of organic views online.
