Solution Background
Women make up only 16.68% of STEM graduates in Cambodia. For many young girls, STEM is quietly ruled out long before a classroom decision is ever made — by family expectations, by the absence of women they can look up to in the field, and by a culture that has never quite said: this is for you too.
That's why Empower Girls created Tech Box Kits to change that: hands-on experiments in Khmer, designed to make STEM feel possible, personal, and within reach.

How does it work?
Tech Box Kits guides users through four hands-on innovation projects, including:
01. Traffic Light System: Build a working traffic light from scratch — learning circuitry and logic through a system they see every day.
02. Auto Parking System: Assemble an automated parking mechanism that introduces sensors and automated responses.
03. Measurement Machine: Construct a device that measures physical data — making abstract STEM concepts tangible and hands-on.
04. Soil Moisture Detector: Build a detector that reads soil conditions — connecting STEM directly to Cambodia’s agricultural reality.
The box also comes with a STEM Guidebook — mapping out real scholarships, education pathways, and career opportunities so girls can see where experimentation could take them.

Moving beyond theory, Empower Girls creates products that enable young girls to learn STEM in a more practical, hands-on way. They have developed a STEM learning kit containing electronic components that guide users through step-by-step learning via experimentation.
In addition, they have created a Khmer-language guidebook introducing STEM pathways, scholarships, and career opportunities, helping girls connect hands-on learning with future possibilities.
Through their journey in Generation Future 2025, Empower Girls has grown from an idea into an emerging solution with real traction, securing over $2,000 in seed funding. Today, they continue to strengthen and scale their work through other ongoing incubation programs, driven by a clear mission: to make STEM learning more accessible, meaningful, and empowering for girls in Cambodia.
