Re-imagining how we build, plan, and live together
The Build4People Sustainable Building Incubator provided tailored support to aspiring entrepreneurs forging innovative solutions for sustainable urban living. Over four months, participants transformed their concepts into actionable prototypes and built their design thinking skills, all while supported by expert mentors. The teams participated in masterclasses and field trips, and the winning team received seed funding to continue developing their product.
Through the program, our cohort of impact makers expanded their networks, deepened their knowledge about sustainable urban development, and grew their motivation to pursue careers in environmental and social impact.
Turning ideas into reality
Skills and strategy development
The program was designed to build participants’ skills across a range of key areas: business, design thinking, and the built environment. As a result of the program, participants reported gaining new skills in business strategy development and learned a lot about urban development and financing.
Connections and guidance
We introduced participants to over a dozen experts and mentors in business, urban development, and architecture. With this personalized guidance, teams refined their prototype and gained a better understanding of the market’s needs.
Motivation and commitment
Participants shared that the program boosted their motivation to continue advancing sustainable building solutions. They highlighted the tools and resilience they gained to navigate startup challenges.
“I think the Impact Hub team did an outstanding job with coordinating the weekly workshops and providing our team with the resources that would be most useful for us. We got connected with people who were operating along similar lines and got to hear about their experiences. Mentorship and facilitation of the program were spectacular — from the presentations to one-on-one meetings, each mentor was very thorough and explained the material well.”
