An agriculture startup launchpad program for aspiring entrepreneurs who are looking to use their tech, agriculture, and business skills to build the climate resilient agriculture ventures

About Dak Dam Innovators for Resilient Agriculture

Dak Dam Innovators for Resilient Agriculture was a startup program for young aspiring entrepreneurs who want to improve Cambodia’s agriculture industry using innovative ideas and climate-resilient agriculture practices. The program kicked off with a 3-day hackathon challenge where teams of university students created and pitched innovative business ideas focused on climate-resilient agriculture. The top 5 teams received $500 in seed funding and joined a full incubation program with training, mentorship, and site visits.

Program Journey

01. Outreach

The DakDam program aimed to introduce young people to entrepreneurship and agriculture — and help those with an existing passion find their way. We conducted mini interactive workshops at universities to introduce concepts of social entrepreneurship to hundreds of students and encourage them to apply for the program.

02. Hackathon

What better way to find the next best idea than a hackathon? We brought together 50 young people with diverse skills in business, agriculture, technology, and communications over an intensive (and super fun!) three days. They collaborated in teams to create and pitch an innovative business idea focused on climate-resilient agriculture, supported by mini-workshops and mentorship.

03. Incubation

The top 5 teams selected at the end of the Hackathon underwent a three-month support program. Through training workshops, mentoring, and field visits to meet local successful entrepreneurs, the teams learned the fundamentals of launching a start-up and refined their prototypes.

04. Post-Program Support

We showcased the innovative ideas at a Demo Day, where judges selected the finalists to receive additional seed funding and three more months of post-program support from Impact Hub Phnom Penh. It was a runway to help them take off with their new startup!
