Elevating emerging impact-driven content creators
The media4impact Incubator program supported 6 emerging content creators and media entrepreneurs in Cambodia to create influential content, engage a wide audience base, and establish sustainable content platforms that focus on social and environmental impact. We carefully selected our cohort from an applicant pool of 56 (!) applicants — all individuals or teams that have started producing content (videos, audio, visual graphics, blogging, etc.) and are passionate about media for public interest, but have not yet reached large audiences.
Through tailored mentorship, extensive networking opportunities, and financial support, the program empowered these up-and-coming content creators to drive positive change in Cambodia’s media landscape. We offered an interactive learn-and-play environment, experiential learning opportunities, and an emphasis on collaborative culture. The program built a one-of-a-kind community of like-minded peers while helping transform the quality and reach of their platforms.
Sparking creativity and connection
Understanding social impact
Our cohort of emerging content creators learned how to define their target audiences and develop meaningful messages from a social impact angle. They explored their niche through introductions to other changemakers and creators in the field advocating for social and environmental issues.
Creative exploration
We organized site visits to offer creative exposure to the media and communications industry. We themed workshops, visits, and guest speakers around four pillars: “Creative Week” (express what you want to say), “Visibility Week” (amplify your work), “Design Week” (develop your brand identity), and “Startup Week” (grow as a socially impactful media platform).
Collaboration
The program fostered a culture of collaboration between our media creators to encourage them to tell impactful stories as a community. We saw amazing collaborations emerge from the program as the content creators diversified their views by learning from each other and co-produced impactful content.
Exhibition
Through the Prosob Exhibition, we showcased our content creators’ works to the public through interactive exhibits, workshops, and performances. It was also a chance for their followers to meet the creators they’ve been supporting and to discover other social impact creators.
“I was more motivated to make content when surrounded by like-minded people. I started more consistently creating impactful content that engages more and new audiences.”
