What is Lafiya Innovators?

Lafiya Innovators – Health Incubation Program

is a 6 months startup incubation program that supports and accelerates early operational startups focused on health-related problems.

In addition, the program seeks to strengthen the local health ecosystem and health entrepreneurship capacity by bringing together and engaging a strong community of health stakeholders, both locally and globally.

You also must be a part of initiatives that focusing on the following topics:

What does the program offer?

  • Workshops: Business workshops delivered by health industry expert and business experts
  • Coaching: Personal coach to support entrepreneurs’ personal development
  • Mentoring: Sector and industry experts for tailored expert support in health industry
  • Network & Connections: Access to Impact Hub’s national and international network, with strategic connections for partnership development 
  • Field Trip: Advice on how to conduct regular field trips and analyze the results of testing prototype and business models directly with target beneficiaries
  • Demo Day: An opportunity for participants to showcase their business in front of investors, strategic partners and the public, to build nation and region-wide exposure and awareness
  • Funding and field trip to Switzerland: After the incubation phase, there will be a competitive pitching event, where 3 out of the 10 ventures will be selected to join the ecosystem tour happening in Switzerland alongside with the winners from Dhaka, Medeillin and Accra. In addition, each of the winning teams will receive 10,000CHF, equivalent to 10,381 USD in prototyping fund.

Hattha Neary is an enterprise empowering women through self-care and wellbeing with handcrafted, locally-made products.

Amala Periods provides sustainable menstruation products and education to break taboos and promote health and eco-consciousness.

A social enterprise that empowers organizations through professional training and coaching services to create inclusive, diverse, and high-performing environments for well-being and thriving employees.

To be eligible for funding and to join the Accelerator program, the applicant must meet the following criteria:

Startup Stage:

  • Early-operation – already validation from customers
  • Already working full-time or planning to move full-time in the next 2 months.
  • Demonstrating a demand for the product/service can increase the likelihood of selection.

Business Model and Impact Model

  • Scalable business model
  • Impact on the vulnerable communities
  • Solve a pressing issue in healthcare

Team:

  • Diversity of skills in the team
  • Founding team – with decision making
  • 2 – 3 people per team to join the program

Commitment:

  • Coachable, see some value in joining the program beyond the cash prize
  • Have enough time to join the program according to the set dates.

What will I learn during the Masterclasses?

How is the selection process for this program?

For the First Phase of the program, we will select 10 health-focused startups from Cambodia. Companies must fill out the application form before the June 23, 2023. Our team will apply an initial filter in order to validate that the program’s acceptance criteria are met. A number of pre-selected applications will be invited to an interview with a panel of mentors  from the Cambodia’s entrepreneurship, innovation, and health sector.

Where will the program take place?

The Bootcamp will happen at Impact Hub Phnom Penh on the 10th & 17th July 2023

The 1-1 mentoring program and the Masterclasses in July – October 2023 will happen either online or at Impact Hub Phnom Penh. 

All the travel expenses for teams based outside of Phnom Penh, will be covered by the program. 

I have just an idea, can I still apply?

Unfortunately no! You must have a business at the eraly-operational stage where you have already a 1st version of your product and some initial customers.
