Meet the Cellcard Lab Cycle 1 Winners

Interview by Thida Leiper

Last September, we launched our first cycle of Cellcard Labs, an intensive 6 weeks business model validation lab for young aspiring entrepreneurs looking to address social or environmental issues, helping them turn their ideas into a viable business. With over 100 applicants, only 8 teams were selected to participate in our workshops with tailored business support and access to Impact Hub's workspace and community. Our first cycle came to close with a pitching night held at Raintree, where teams pitched their business ideas to a panel of judges which included Cellcard CCO Laszlo Barta, Co Founder/CEO of Sabay Osja Ear Uy and Tosfund Project Manager Vuthy Phan. After successfully delivering their pitches, 3 teams (Doy Doy, Sweet Life and CHHLAT) were announced as the cash prize winners. We caught up with the teams to find out what they've been up to and their next steps in their entrepreneurial journey.

DOY DOY - Chanrithykol Em

Describe your business solution.

Doydoy is an affordable fun and colorful building toy game (3D printed joints connected with straws), which hopes to enhance childrens’ creativity skills.

What’s next for Doydoy?

I hope to release new sets this year though there are many challenges with resources, team and time. I will improve the online site to reach more people worldwide and will also team up with educational institutions. I hope to sell 5,000 boxes in 2017. I plan to execute a big project in the provinces to help children access the toys and a shop will be rented an exhibition space and playground for customers.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

I would like to expand Doydoy to other countries and sell hundred of thousands more. I see myself owning a real company, not just a small startup. I sell myself having investors invested in my company to help it grow.

What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?

Go slowly but progressively. Be brave and never let anyone tell you you are a stupid- there is lots of noise and dust out there but just listen to the music. Keep calm and work.
